Every once upon a time,
I try to write with words that rhyme.
But when I compile them in a tome,
Spelling often blows my pome.
And when I work on perfect meter,
I end up scanning lines that teeter.
If I subtly use a metaphor,
It stands out like a semaphore.
But wait! Isn’t that a simile?
You see, they’re all about the same to me.
Lest I err o’er words archaic,
I ne’er allow an apostrophaic.
Poetry comes from what you make it.
Try doggerel and you can fake it.
